«Born This Way» is a coming-of-age story. It opens with Cédric, a young man who lives in Douala – a lawless, sprawling port city on the coast of Cameroon. Cédric is gay. He only admitted this to himself a few years ago. His friend Gertrude works with him at «Alternatives Cameroun» – an organization fighting for human rights in Cameroon, especially for LGBT. The third protagonist in the film is Alice Nkom, a Cameroonian lawyer, well known for her advocacy towards decriminalization of homosexuality in Cameroon.
